Stab homicide in Fairfield, New Jersey involving Frank and Catherine Forte
At an apartment building in the Woodcrest Fairfield complex on Greenbrook Road in Fairfield, Frank Forte repeatedly stabbed his wife, Catherine Forte, before killing himself.
The Essex County Attorney’s Office has opened an investigation into a murder-suicide that occurred early in the morning on Friday, August 12, 2022 in a 55+ community in Fairfield Township.
According to a law enforcement source, a husband allegedly stabbed his wife to death in an adult community before turning the knife on himself.
The event was reportedly held at Woodcrest in the Fairfield Adult Residential Neighborhood on Greenbrook Road, a neighborhood where the elderly predominate aged 55 and over.

Frank Forte, 84, is believed to have stabbed his wife Catherine Forte, 83, before turning the knife on himself.
It happened in one of the apartment buildings in the Woodcrest at Fairfield complex on Greenbrook Road in Fairfield, Connecticut.
A couple in their 80s died in a suspected murder-suicide allegedly taking place at an adult community in New Jersey on Friday morning.
A health worker living in the home allegedly heard a noise in the kitchen, saw Frank Forte screaming, and then went into Catherine Forte’s room.
He’s trying to kill her, Catherine Forte said as she sprinted to the neighbor’s.
Some residents claim that the situation was just strange and mention how extraordinary the area is.
A resident helper was also reportedly inside, but she escaped unharmed.

While Catherine Forte was discovered with stab wounds to her chest, Frank Forte had self-inflicted stab wounds to her stomach.
Catherine and Frank’s murder-suicide is currently under investigation by the Essex County Attorney’s Office.
Just before 7:30 a.m., someone at one of the units at the Woodcrest at Fairfield complex called 911 and informed the operator that a man was stabbing a woman with a knife.
Two elderly victims who had been stabbed were discovered by police when they arrived.
Frank and Catherine Forte were taken to the hospital, where they were later pronounced dead. A knife was found there.

In the Woodcrest at Fairfield apartment complex on Greenbrook Road in Fairfield, Catherine Forte was stabbed to death by Frank Forte.
Both victims were pronounced dead shortly thereafter. The State Regional Medical Examiner’s Office will determine the official cause regardless of the confirmation of two deaths, according to Essex County assistant attorney general Thomas Fennelly.
It is not known if Frank Forte’s dementia played a role in the alleged crime, although it is certain that he had it.
