Shakira wants to move to Miami and leave the breakup, the tax tax behind him
“Anytime, Anywhere” – What About Miami?
Sources told Page Six that Colombian superstar Shakira, 45, wants to leave Barcelona and live in Miami full-time – leaving behind personal troubles that haunt her.
Not only is he in the midst of a controversial break-up and fight for custody with his children’s father, Barcelona footballer Gerard Piqué, 35, but the singer “Hips Don’t Lie” faces up to eight years in prison. Spanish authorities accused her of tax fraud.
Barcelona turns out to be a place of bad memories.
In Miami Beach, she has close family and friends who gather around her and provide much-needed support. Plus, a very private and palatial waterfront residence. Douglas Elliman’s family friend and real estate agent, Ana Lourdes Martinez, calls the city the “refuge” of Shakira.
“Miami is her home,” he told The Post Martinez, who works with Shakira’s brother Antonio, on the singer’s local property. “Her parents live here, her brother, niece and nephew live here. There is no family in Spain. It’s a different environment than Barcelona. ”
Friends such as fellow musician Alejandro Sanz – her duo partner La Tortura – are reportedly trying to convince Shakira to take her talents to South Beach, and additional sources close to the singer confirm her willingness to move to Sunshine State.
Leaving Barcelona, where she first bought a house in 2012, would help escape the whirling rumors about Piqué and his alleged infidelities.
Leading up to their breakup, Piqué – Shakira’s 11-year-old partner and father of their sons Milan (9) and Sasha (7) – reportedly wrote privately to other women, including Brazilian model Suzy Cortez, also known as Miss BoomBum, and He secretly meets Clara Chia Marti23-year-old public relations student, for months.
Shakira and Piqué announced their split in June. The power couple met in 2010 at the World Cup in South Africa. She was there to perform “Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)” while he was playing for his native Spain, the winning team of the year. They both share the same birthday (February 2), but Shakira is 10 years older. Two months after meeting Piqué, Shakira parted ways with Antonio de la Rúa, son of former Argentine president Fernando de la Rúa, and her boyfriend of 10 years, although she reportedly only began dating the soccer star the following year.
Now, as the struggle for custody of the children grows between Shakira and Piqué, the children return to Barcelona, where they live in their father’s studio apartment. A temporary truce gave him custody for half a month after Shakira took them to a whirlwind to Miami, Los Angeles
Angeles and Mexico.
A separated couple can end up fighting for their substantial real estate assets. In addition to their Miami Beach residences, they own eight-bedroom villas in the Cap St. Georges in Cyprus, purchased in 2019, and a seven-bedroom house in the exclusive Pedralbes neighborhood of Barcelona. Despite her cozy apartment, Shakira never gained sympathy for this city or Piqué’s inner circle. His friends reportedly call her “La Patrona” (“The Boss”) behind her back.
Shakira’s portfolio also includes Bonds Cay, a private island in the Bahamas which she bought for $ 15 million with Pink Floyd co-founder Roger Waters. The business partners planned to turn the paradise into a haven for artists with luxury hotels, apartment buildings, galleries and studio space, but never landscaped the area. Currently, the 550-hectare island is still uninhabited.
But tax issues could affect the singer’s reported net worth of $ 300 million.
Shakira, née Shakira Isabel Mebarak Ripoll, is said to have failed to pay $ 14.7 million in taxes between 2012 and 2014. In addition to the jail sentence, there is also a threat of a fine of $ 23.5 million if found guilty. Sources say Shakira is confident in her innocence but disappointed with the smear campaign.
“Shakira has always cooperated and complied with the law,” said her PR representative in an interview with The Post, “demonstrating impeccable conduct as an individual and taxpayer, faithfully following the advice of PriceWaterhouse Coopers, a prestigious and internationally recognized tax firm. Unfortunately, the Spanish tax office, which loses every second lawsuit to taxpayers, continues to violate its rights and is pursuing another unsubstantiated case. Shakira is confident that her innocence will be proven before the end of the trial.
The singer has already paid $ 17.5 million to the Spanish tax office to settle her debt.
Sources said The Post Shakira is not worried about going to jail.
“This is something the Spanish tax authorities are known to wealthy people for,” said one informant. “It’s more annoying than anything else.”
No wonder her friends encourage her to let go of bad memories in Spain and move to the USA.
When she’s in Miami, Shakira remains discreet, preferring her family’s company to clubbing.
“Shakira is a very family-oriented person,” described Martinez. “He’s not going to a party with a group of friends. No, they gather at her house for barbecues and family activities. It’s a home for entertainment. Children like to be here and to be with their abuelos.
And as her parents get older, the singer has good reason to stay close.
Shakira’s father, 90-year-old William Mebarak Chadid, fell earlier this year. Concerned about the condition of Shakira’s father, she dedicated an Instagram post to him. “You taught us to get up after each fall, and this time we know you’ll do it again,” she wrote on July 9.
Not only Shakira’s parents live in Miami, but also her stepbrother Antonio. The siblings are very close and her confidant is supposedly “Tonino”.
“It’s all about her children. Her children are ahead of her career, Martinez said. “Her family comes first. Her mom is always with her and so is Tonino.
The singer’s brother is a real estate broker who shared an offer of her North Bay mansion with Martinez.
Shakira bought the property on North Bay Road in 2001 for $ 3.4 million. This 8,078 square foot modern home offers 6 bedrooms, 7 bathrooms, a gym with wooden floors, a recording studio and a private docking station. Over the years, she has completely refurbished the two-story stunning, collaborating on redesign with Miami architects Ben Lopez & Associates and interior designer Renata Lessa Bastos.
However, shortly after the birth of her and Piqué’s son Milan in 2013, Shakira attempted to unload the property, first listing it for $ 45,000 a month and then selling it for just over $ 13 million. In 2015, it raised the price to $ 13.9 million. In February 2021, she re-listed the house for $ 15.9 million before taking it down six months later. Since then, the house has remained outside the market.
At the height of the pandemic, when prices in Miami soared as stars Cindy Crawford, Tom Brady, David and Victoria Beckham flocked to Magic City, Shakira was offered “five to six million above asking price,” but he did not. According to Martinez, he doesn’t want to sell.
“It all happened right after that,” Martinez continued, referring to Shakira’s troubles with Piqué and the tax evasion controversy. “It was God’s plan. I told her it was her
House.
“He’s a very private person. She must be sad, but you will never see her sad in public. She is very cool. She is a fighter. It goes on and on to the next chapter.
“I’m sorry about what happened to her with her partner, but that’s life,” Martinez added. “He can go on living in Miami.
