Wednesday Addams knows how to beat the bully.
In the first trailer for the upcoming Netflix series “Wednesday,” Jenna Ortega, who plays the malevolent teenager, watches the piranha school on the boys’ swim team after messing with her brother, Pugsley Addams, played by Isaac Ordonez.
“The only person who can torture my brother is me,” says 19-year-old Ortega before releasing the carnivorous fish into the pool, making the boys scream.
An act of retaliation results in the dark-haired teen being expelled from her eighth school in just five years, leading her to attend the ninth Nevermore Academy.
Wednesday’s father, Gomez Addams (Luis Guzmán) and her mother, Morticia Addams (Catherine Zeta-Jones), met at the infamous academy they describe as a “magic place.”
“I didn’t know I was going to fall into a nightmare full of mystery, chaos and murder,” says Wednesday in the chilling two-minute announcement, rightly released Wednesday, before concluding that she thought she would “love it here.”
The older version of the only daughter in the macabre family, Ortega comes complete with signature jet black character braids and a gothic polka dot dress.
The streaming service describes the eight-episode series as “following a supernatural mystery” as Ortega Wednesday “tries to contain her emerging psychic abilities, foil the monstrous killing spree that terrorized the local town, and solve the supernatural mystery that entangled her parents 25 years ago – all of this. while navigating my new and very tangled relationships in Nevermore. ”
Other actors on the series include Gwendoline Christie, George Burcea, Georgie Farmer and Christina Ricci, who starred Wednesday in the 1991 adaptation of The Addams Family.
Ricci, 42, has praised Ortega’s performance sullen teens, saying in April that “people are going to love her on Wednesday.”
Ortega previously starred in “Jane the Virgin”, “Stuck in the Middle” and “You”.
The Black Comedy is directed and produced by Tim Burton, and is slated to premiere in the fall.
