Anne Heche tried to warn Portia de Rossi about dating Ellen DeGeneres, a deceased actress revealed in a new episode of her podcast.
The “Six Days, Seven Nights” star, who died at 53 last Friday after sustaining serious injuries when she drove her car home, explained to her co-host Heather Duffy that de Rossi thought she was dating a former talk show host would make her a “poster child” in a gay relationship.
“I warned Portia,” she said in the June 2021 episode “Better together.” “Portia even asked me about Ellen before she came to my wedding [to Coleman Laffoon]and Portia even said, “I’ll follow Ellen.”
Heche said she told star Arrested Development that the relationship would not help her rise to fame.
“You’re not the poster child, girl,” recalls Heche, telling de Rossi, “because guess what? That poster child has already been taken, and by the way, it wasn’t a great place.
“But it won’t be easier for you. And I’m telling you now, like red flag, red flag, red flag! “
Heche walked in the shadow of de Rossi, with whom she appeared in Ally McBeal as a woman comparable to a luxury car.
“I realized Ellen drives a Porsche … and then she married one,” said Heche. “She used to only drive a Porsche and collect them, and I just thought it was so stupid because they were so loud.”
The star of “Volcano” dated the 64-year-old DeGeneres from 1997-2000. She later told Page Six that their relationship “canceled” her in Hollywood.
“I haven’t taken a studio picture in 10 years,” she said. “I was discharged from my $ 10 million deal and didn’t see the light of day in the studio shot.”
Meanwhile, the voice actress “Finding Nemo” and 49-year-old de Rossi were celebrating their 14th wedding anniversary.
