My Chemical Romance Cheerleader Dress by Gerard Way

Fans are not okay (promise) to see Gerard Way appear in a cheerleading uniform.

At the My Chemical Romance concert at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee, on Tuesday, the group’s frontman flaunted the band’s spirit in a green and white cheer dress with a “W” on the front.

“The uniform is vintage but has been completely remade / redesigned to fit Gerard,” says costume designer Marina Toybina for Page Six Style.

“It was originally a size 4 for women and we were able to strip it completely and recreate it on stage.”

Although Way, 45, has never explicitly stated his sexual orientation or identified himself as non-binary, he uses the pronouns “he / them” and opens up to his “gender identity issues” at Reddit AMA 2015.

“I’ve always identified with the female gender, and at some point in the MDGs I started to express it through my looks and style of performance,” they wrote then.

And fans quickly moved to Twitter to applaud Way’s gender-fluid band.

He wrote one, “not BC for years Gerard spoke of their gender dysphoria and suggested his fluidity, but that was when he was deeply preoccupied with drugs and alcohol. after all, he is healthy, happy and sober and embraces his femininity much more, which is very important to me. “

Way has long voiced its support for LGBTQIA + MCR supporters, which is a relative rarity in the pop-punk scene in the early 2000s.
