The Red Hot Chili Peppers dedicated their great honor at the MTV Video Music Awards 2022 Sunday night to the late Taylor Hawkins.
“There is another musical icon, a global icon – my brother is called Taylor Hawkins,” said Chad Smith, receiving the Global Icon Award. “I want to dedicate this to Taylor and his family. I love them and I miss him every day. Fly on, Hawk. Keep on flying, brother.
The band also featured Hawkins’ name on a drum kit during their performance, written in the center of a flying hawk.

The drummer of the Foo Fighters was found dead in a hotel room in Colombia in March. He was 50 years old.
“His musical spirit and contagious laughter will live with us forever,” the band wrote in a social media announcement.
A few days later, a report from a South American country stated that authorities: discovered multiple drugs in Hawkins’ hotel room.
Hawkins widow Alison Hawkins publicly appealed to his untimely death a few months later to thank fans for their unwavering support.
“My deepest thanks and admiration go to the global Foo Fighters community and Taylor fans for the outpouring of love each of you has shown to our beloved Taylor.” wrote via Instagram.
“Your kindness has been an invaluable consolation to my family and to me at this time of unimaginable grief.”
Alison concluded her emotional message by saying that Taylor’s “endearing spirit and deep love for music” would live forever – “thanks to the collaboration he liked so much with other musicians and the catalog of songs he contributed and created.”
The Hawkins family also announced that the Foo Fighters will honor Taylor two special tribute concerts will be held in September.
The first concert will begin on September 3 at London’s Wembley Stadium and the second on September 27 at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles.
Alison and Taylor had three children: Oliver, 16, Annabelle, 13, and Everleigh, 8.
