Just won a legal victory in a highly publicized defamation court battle with his ex-wife Amber Heard, Johnny Depp appeared at the 2022 MTV Video Music Awards on August 28.

A surprising cameo in which his face appeared inside a man floating on the moon during the show’s opening was the most prominent public appearance in years for Pirates of the Caribbean star whose career has been stalled by litigation. But it’s clear he’s trying to make a comeback: earlier this month he signed a seven-figure deal with Dior.

While 59-year-old Depp promoted the Italian animated series Dead ends in Europe last October, and continued his music career performing with his band Hollywood vampires and recently joined a British rock musician Jeff Beck while on tour this summer, the star has not attended an event in the US dedicated to his acting projects since he made a surprise appearance at Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald panel at Comic-Con 2018.

The actor finally refused the next continuation of the series Harry Potter prequel from Warner Bros. the request after losing a libel case against a British newspaper that called him a “wife beater” – charges he denied.
