VMA 2022: All the best-dressed celebrities

Glamorous gowns are good and good if you’re going to the Academy Awards or Grammys – but at VMA it all comes down to showing off your skin and disregarding fashion rules. In the end, it was at the awards ceremony that we were brought in a “naked” Rose McGowan gown, Lady Gaga’s meaty gown and purple Lil Kim paste with sequins.

And on the VMA 2022 red carpet, the stars didn’t stop at the styling department: Taylor Swift unexpectedly appeared in a mini dress with a chandelier, Lil Nas X became a complete showpiece in feathers, and Lizzo chatted on Twitter in her voluminous cloud … like couture.

Taylor Swift

The director of “All Too Well: Short Film” was the pride of the (mirror) ball during the Sunday screening, shining especially for us in the crystal-covered painting by Oscar de la Renta. Christian Louboutin’s shimmering heels and Lorraine Schwartz’s jewels elevated the brilliance factor even further.

Lil Nas X

Rapper “Montero (Call Me By Your Name)” looked ready to fly in his fabulous Harris Reed feathered headdress and matching circle skirt – an all-black version of Iman’s unforgettable gold-plated 2021 Met suit.

Conan Gray

Lil Nas X wasn’t the only one to catch the eye of Harris Reed on Sunday – “Heather” singer Conan Gray looked utterly ethereal in a translucent white blazer with a wide lace trimmed train designed by the gender designer.

Anitta

The Brazilian superstar literally bared her heart on the red carpet, wearing the stunning scarlet Schiaparelli Haute Couture.

Lisa, Jisoo, Jennie and Rosé have coordinated their VMA debut in All Blacks (No Pink) by choosing complementary styles from their popular fashion houses – Celine, Dior, Chanel and Saint Laurent respectively.

Lizzo

Talk about the power of flowers! The singer “Because I Liked a Boy” showed off her bevels in a gleaming, fully embellished flowery Moschino tied dress topped with a girly headband.

The glistening, tarot-inspired look of “Mamiia” musician Zuhair Murad Couture was a dream fit for her.

Shensee

The playful Marc Jacobs outfit of the Jamaican dancehall artist combined frayed denim with draped threads of mirrored discs for a mesmerizing effect.
