Never let it be said that Oprah Winfrey has no idea about how to pull off a birthday bash! The news financier actually took to Instagram to share and behind-the-scenes look at the lavish, three-day event he worked on to honor Ava DuVernay’s 50th birthday.
The two or three have been beloved allies for nearly 10 years and have reliably coordinated various endeavors, for example, Selma, Disney’s A Wrinkle in Time and OWN’s Queen Sugar, where they were both boss creators.

In a video introduced on her page, the 68-year-old DuVernay flaunts tall piles of freshly picked sunflowers from her nursery. Winfrey recalled their most important collaboration in the caption and acclaimed performer David Oyelowo for introducing her to the boss through his unconventional film, Middle of Nowhere.
“I explored who facilitated the film because I didn’t know Ava DuVernay before. There was this wonderful picture of this chosen Black woman wearing glasses like me. I thought, I have to be the sidekick him!” he formed “In addition, here we are, almost 10 years into our partnership and capturing @ava’s 50th year on planet Earth. A video on the Oprah Daily Instagram page offers a brief look at the initial chance event of the “three-day party that worked with the pioneer with the most,” as DuVernay reasonably put it.
“I ask God, ‘How can I justify this group of people coming from all the places you have made to be with me these days? And besides, how could I merit a sidekick who’d make this second for us all?’” reflected the honor winning maker, watching over his many dear friends and family, which included stars like Colman Domingo, Niecy Nash and Gayle Hari.
“I have no clue about what I did, yet he might tell me. I’m tuned-in, and I’ll be thanking you for all the time here, and thanking you forever for it,” she wrapped up.
DuVernay turned 50 on August 24. On her birthday, the Colin in Black and White pioneer creator shared a message on her page next to a photo of herself as a youngster, saying, “The this little peanut is 50 years old now. sometimes i look at pictures of myself when i was younger and i can’t stop thinking about what was so important to me back then. i accept i know. should be really content it’s me.”

“Life to the best of our ability is a chaotic, surprising happening in the world. There is dignity in every breath. Not too far away. Comfortable and inside. Keeping things under control so we can keep track of it. Besides, it’s called euphoria ,” she wrapped up.
The boss even went so far as to share his gratitude for Winfrey’s blowout on his Instagram page, sharing a series of photos from his birthday celebration in Maui. Referring to the week as “a time that I will long remember and hold on to, to warm me,” DuVernay expressed gratitude to Winfrey for “this friendship beyond anything that can be described.”
In his second post, he added, “I’ve never felt so happy and free at the same time. Many thanks to you in my usual cherish for celebrating 50 with me. Courtesy of my love and ultimate expert, @oprah. You covered me with your joy and your thoughts and your love and it was like I had never experienced anything. Thankful for every smile, every hug, every request. First for each of us.”
