On August 24, 1984, India was forced to face another heinous hijacking. Indian Airlines flight IC 691, departing from Delhi, was hijacked and landed in Amritsar, marking the fifth hijacking of an Indian Airlines plane in the past seven years.
Akshay Kumar’s character, BellBottom, a RAW agent, sees through to the plan, beginning India’s first covert operation. A true story, directed by BellBottom, that led to one of the country’s most defining moments. The team rescues 210 hostages and apprehends the four kidnappers.
Huma Qureshi plays one of Akshay Kumar’s team members while Vaani Kapoor plays his wife. Lara Dutta is almost unrecognizable as former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.
