2013–2015: Beginnings and first album

In 2013, Fetty Wap expressed interest in pursuing a career in the music industry. He began his career as a rapper, but later decided to pursue a singing career as well because he “wanted to do something different.” He started his career as a rapper. On September 25, 2015, Fetty Wap’s debut studio album, titled Fetty Wap, was made available to the public. The album debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 chart in the United States, selling 129,000 equivalent album units in its first week of release (75,484 in pure album sales). After this, Fetty Wap came out with two new mixtapes, the first was titled Coke Zoo and featured French Montana and the Zoo Gang, while the second was titled ZOO 16: The Mixtape and also featured the Zoo Gang. At the 58th Annual Grammy Awards, Fetty Wap was recognized with two nominations.

Fetty Wap’s next single, titled “Jimmy Choo,” was made available for digital download on February 5, 2016. On April 26, 2016, it was reported that Fetty Wap would be receiving his own mobile racing game, which would be available May 3 for phones, tablets, and Apple TV. It’s a game about street racing, and you can play it with multiple people, customize your cars, and choose from different storylines. The Fifth Harmony single “All in My Head (Flex)” featured Fetty Wap as a guest artist. In April of 2016, he released a single titled “Wake Up.” His high school, Eastside, served as the setting for the official music video for the song, which was shot there. In the month of August 2016 his single titled “Make You Feel Good” was released.

A collaboration with Nicki Minaj resulted in the release of her single “Like a Star” in December of 2016.

In February of 2017, she was a model in the Philipp Plein runway show that took place during New York Fashion Week.

On May 12, 2017, he released the song under the title “Aye.” On June 7, 2017, he released the mixtape under the title Lucky No. 7. The song “There She Go,” which featured Monty, was released by him on August 18 of that year. In October of 2017, Fetty Wap appeared on Cheat Codes’ single “Feels Great”, which also featured CVBZ.

The extended play (EP) titled For My Fans III: The Final Chapter was released by Fetty Wap on January 19, 2018. In June of 2018, he released the mixtape under the name Bruce Wayne.

The single “Birthday” was released by Fetty Wap on his actual birthday, which was June 7, 2019. The song “Brand New” was made available for download on September 27. The mixtape titled Trap & B was released on February 14, 2020.

The Butterfly Effect, covering the years 2021 to the present

In an Instagram video posted on September 28, 2021, Fetty Wap gave a sneak peek of the song “Out The Hood.” The caption for the video reads “10/22 TBE,” prompting rumors of an upcoming single or mixtape release. Later, on October 13, 2021, Fetty Wap revealed the official cover art for the album “The Butterfly Effect,” indicating that it will be his second studio album and will be released six years after the release of his debut. After several mixtape releases and legal troubles, Fetty Wap reappeared on October 22, 2021, with the official release of this album, marking the beginning of his comeback. The name of the album is a tribute to his late daughter Lauren, from whom he took the inspiration for the name of the album as well as some of the songs.

The late grandmother of Fetty Wap’s son inspired the rapper to draw inspiration from Haitian culture, and he often wears the Haitian flag as a sign of respect. He said he “fell in love with the culture; people don’t understand what Haiti means to me” in an interview with CivilTV. In addition, Atlanta-based rapper Gucci Mane was mentioned as a significant inspiration for Fetty Wap’s music on many occasions.
