Early life

Mohammed was born on October 4, 1980 in Leeds, West Yorkshire. His mother was a Cyprus-born general practitioner and his father was an Indo-Trinidadian jurist. Abbey Grange High School was his alma mater for his secondary education. He apparently turned down an offer from Cambridge University and settled on Durham University, where he was a member of St Aidan’s College and played violin in the university orchestra. He had auditioned twice for Durham Revue but didn’t get in and instead attended the local comedy circuit. Because of his interest in humor, he decided to try the Footlights, which he did exceptionally well. After appearing at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, he was approached by a BBC producer.

Mohammed appeared in the second season of the British television show Reggie Perrin, which airs on BBC One, and he co-hosted the British television comedy series The King Is Dead, which aired on BBC Three alongside Simon Bird and Katy Wix. He has had cameo appearances in Pete & Dud: The Lost Sketches, Miranda, How Not to Live Your Life, and Life’s Too Short, and appeared in an episode of the musical comedy show Alex Horne Presents The Horne Section’ from BBC Radio 4.
