Shillong, Sep 12 (IANS) A day after Ramesh Dkhar and an individual who escaped from prison learned how to avoid the horde rage in Meghalaya’s West Jaintia Hills locale on Sunday in which four other criminals were killed, he was caught on Monday while others still haven’t traced the man, police said.

The police said that Dkhar was seen in the Shangpung Thadmuthlong region by some individuals who informed them and a police team rushed to the spot to remove him to avoid any untoward incident.

Five under-preliminary prioners and convict Marsanki Tariang escaped from Jowai prison following a chase and shocking the gatekeepers on Saturday night and hid in a wilderness. However, four of the under-preliminaries were killed by a mob at Shangpung in the West Jaintia Hills region.

As indicated by the police, a crowd of nearby individuals, generally youths, armed with wooden sticks, severely thrashed the four killing them on the spot.

On Sunday, the criminals came out of their shelter and tried to get food when the individuals recognized them and chased them.

Dkhar thought of how to escape from the wrath of the crowd and Tariang was nowhere to be seen when the incident happened on Sunday. Tariang is serving a jail term following a charge under the POCSO Act.

Meghalaya Home Minister Lahkmen Rymbui said on Monday during the ongoing session of the Assembly that the public authority has set up two test boards to probe the escape of Jowai and the subsequent killing of four of the outlaws.
