He formed Brooks & Dunn with Kix Brooks in 1990. Their debut album Brand New Man was released in 1991 and was certified 6 platinum by the RIAA. 12 studio albums, two compilations of their best work and a holiday album have all been released by Brooks & Dunn.

2011–12: Debut solo album and farewell to Sony

In late April 2010, Dunn announced that he would be creating a solo album. The album’s first song, “Bleed Red,” was made available to country radio on January 29, 2011 and made its debut on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart at number 30 for the week of February 19, 2011, eventually peaking his peak 10 – his first top 10 of his solo career. On June 7, 2011, Dunn’s self-titled album Ronnie Dunn was made available. “Cost of Livin'”, the second single from the album, was released on June 6, 2011 and debuted at number 56 on the country chart. “Let the Cowboy Rock” peaked at #31 after charting at #19.

Ronnie Dunn polled his followers on social media in June 2012 to determine what the album’s fourth single should be. Sony Music officials called Ronnie shortly after to say his “Facebook post ruined the single ‘Let The Cowboy Rock'”. The next single, “Once”, was then asked to play on the radio. He was fired from the label before the song could be made available to radio stations as a single.

2013-14: Little Will-E Records and Peace, Love and Country Music

Ronnie Dunn gave the song “Country This” a SoundCloud sneak peek in March 2013. Ronnie made the two brand new songs “Country This” and “Kiss You There” available exclusively on iTunes on June 4th. The Highway played a month-long teaser for each tune on Sirius XM.

On July 9, 2013, Dunn announced the signing of a new recording deal with HitShop Records and Little Will-E Records, with HitShop handling radio advertising and Dunn retaining control of his own brand. On July 29, 2013, Country Radio received “Kiss You There,” the lead single from his second solo album. Dunn and HitShop Records parted ways after a failed run with “Kiss You There”.

Wish I Still Smoked Cigarettes, the second song from Dunn’s upcoming album, was released on November 19, 2013. A promotional single from Dunn’s second solo album, Grown Damn Man, was also released in January 2014. On April 8, 2014 the album Peace, Love, and Country Music was released.

2014-2018: Record deal with Nash Icon and Tattooed Heart

Ronnie Dunn began speculating on his Facebook page on December 1, 2014 that he had signed to NASH Icon, the latest imprint of Big Machine Label Group, but the label has neither confirmed nor denied this. Dunn joins Martina McBride and Reba McEntire as the third singer on January 12, 2015, according to Big Machine President Scott Borchetta. In a press statement, Borchetta claimed that Ronnie Dunn has had one of the smoothest, most recognizable and beloved voices in country music for the past 25 years. It makes me very proud that he is joining us and taking his rightful iconic position. Excellent music is coming soon. This is the best scenario I can think of, Dunn said in a comment on the post. I’m honored to be a part of this groundbreaking project with Big Machine and Cumulus. The press statement went on to say that Ronnie Dunn is ready to enter the studio to create his third solo album and that the album’s lead-off single was released in early 2015.

Ain’t No Trucks in Texas, the lead track from Dunn’s third solo album, was released on July 17, 2015. The second song, “Damn Drunk”, was featured by Dunn on his Facebook page on April 22, 2016. 2019-present: Reboot and Re-Dunn

Brooks & Dunn entered the recording studio in 2019 for the first time since the release of their 2009 compilation #1s… and Then Some. The result was a new album called Reboot, which re-imagines a number of Brooks & Dunn’s greatest hits and duets with up-and-coming country music talent. The CD was made available on April 5, 2019. It debuted at number 1 on Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart.

A performance by Dunn was featured at the 2019 Musicians Hall of Fame and Museum Concert and Induction Ceremony.

In 2019, Dunn announced that an album of covers would be available in January 2020. The album Re-Dunn consists of twenty-four versions of iconic rock and country songs. A cover of “Amarillo by Morning” was made available on September 6, 2019.
