Camilla honored Queen Elizabeth II with a brooch at her funeral

Queen Consort Camilla paid a stylish tribute to Queen Elizabeth II at her funeral on Monday by attending a service at Westminster Abbey with an eye-catching bauble pinned to her black dress.

Instead of wearing traditional pearls such as Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle, the Queen decided to wear Queen Victoria’s Diamond Jubilee Brooch diamond brooch, heart-shaped jewelry with the number 60 – the number of years of the Diamond Jubilee reign – in shiny Cyrillic.

This striking brooch was donated to Queen Victoria by her grandchildren.

It is possible that Camilla chose this to highlight the fact that Queen Elizabeth II, with her historic 70-year reign, sat on the throne even longer than Queen Victoria, who reigned for 63 years.

The Queen Spouse also nodded to her late mother-in-law with a selection of handbags, carrying the Launer clutch, a long-time favorite brand of Queen Elizabeth. Her Majesty was rarely seen without Launer’s purse, and in 1968 she gave the brand a royal warrant.

It is the last in a series of significant brooches for Camilla who, upon arriving at Buckingham Palace on September 9 after the Queen’s death, wore a diamond-studded knot brooch to symbolize unity and love.

Camilla may have kept her most unique brooch for the Queen Elizabeth Coffin Procession and the Westminster Hall service on September 14 – a glossy stick-stick style.

While the Queen Spouse didn’t immerse herself in the Queen’s jewelry box as much as other members of the royals this month, she now has the first information on the deceased monarch’s collection of jewels – which was likely given to her husband, King Charles.
