Another film that focused on a character whose mental state was altered by the loss of someone close to him was Psycho, and this film spawned a number of sequels. Is it possible that Elias will become the next Norman Bates? We wouldn’t be terribly surprised if they brought back Elias as an older character with an even worse mental state, considering Hollywood tends to produce unnecessary sequels, although it’s unlikely they will.

Good night mom plot

A woman (Susanne Wuest), formerly a member of a chorus famous on local television, returns home to her modern, remote lakeside home and her nine-year-old identical twin sons, Elias and Lukas (Elias Schwarz and Lukas Schwarz) after facial cosmetic surgery. who entered the house after playing outside in a corn field and the nearby lake. The two boys are called Elias and Lukas Schwarz. Her whole head is wrapped in bandages and the only parts visible are her eyes and mouth. The twins get caught in a loop about her looks when they first see their mother, and they’re even more at a loss when they see how she’s acting. She completely ignores Luke and only seems to acknowledge Elias when they are talking or when she is preparing food for them. Although it is the middle of summer, the mother instructs the twins to keep the blinds closed during the day (as her doctor advised her to do to avoid sunlight). She also forbids any visitors or animals into the house, enforces strict confidentiality inside the house (since she needs to rest after the operation), and only lets them play outside in the garden. When Elijah is naughty or disobedient, the mother is also naughty and hits him both physically and verbally. The boys remark that their mother would never do that, so it’s funny to hear her say that.

The twins begin to believe that their mother might not be the same person under all the bandages she wears. When they find an old picture in the photo album showing the mother with another unidentified lady who wears the same clothes and has comparable physical characteristics, this suspicion is confirmed. The picture shows the mother with the other woman (the woman reveals that the other woman in the photo is her friend who is wearing the same clothes as her). The twins run away from their house because they have reason to believe that the woman who has taken up residence there is a scammer. They head to a church in a nearby town, hoping to get help from the minister there. The priest drives her home and accepts the woman’s explanation that she is the mother of the children, in addition to explanations that she and her husband are getting divorced and that there has been a terrible accident.

The young men tie the woman to the bed with bandages and tape, demanding that she reveal the whereabouts of her real mother before letting her go. The woman insists that she is their mother, so the twins decide to burn their mother’s face with a magnifying glass to force her to reveal the whereabouts of their birth mother. After that, they use tape to completely cover their mouth.

The American Red Cross sent two of its employees to collect the donations. They initially wait for their mother to return, but eventually they decide to leave the house after Elias gives them a large sum of cash that he secretly took from his mother’s purse. Meanwhile, the woman manages to free herself from the duct tape that had wrapped around her mouth and begins screaming for help; however, it is too late for them to notify Red Cross workers. After sealing her lips with super glue, the twins discover too late that she cannot consume anything. The identical twins used a very small pair of scissors to slit open her mouth while slicing her lips apart.

The woman remains tied and locked up, and as a result, she wets the bed. She was able to overpower the boys and walk away when the twins allowed her to free herself from her chains so she could change the sheets. The twins, on the other hand, have snapped a trap that causes them to stumble and fall, rendering them unconscious. The woman wakes up, unable to move, on the living room carpet. Elias threatens to burn down the house to force her to tell him and his siblings the truth about their mother. The woman adamantly claims that she is the biological mother of the twins.

Elias is then informed by the woman that Lukas died in a swimming accident, suggesting that Lukas was nothing more than a hallucination caused by dissociative identity disorder. Also, Elias suffers from Capgras delusion and cannot acknowledge the death of his other half. She bursts into tears when she tells Elias that Luke’s death was not his fault and she begs her son to release her so they can both move on with their lives after the tragedy. Elias challenges her and asks her what Luke is up to, hoping that she will confirm that she is in fact her mother. She cannot answer the request as she cannot witness Elias’ hallucination of Luke threatening to set fire to a curtain. Elijah, imagining that his birth mother could see Luke, lit a fire while imagining his brother helping him light it. The woman cries out in fear as she burns to death after the fire before firefighters arrive.

The woman, now unharmed and wearing a yellow dress previously seen in a happy family portrait, leaves home and wanders into the woods as firefighters work to put out the blaze. In the final shot of the film, Elias and Luke can be seen wandering through a corn field before turning up at their mother’s. All three laugh and hug while singing Lukas’ favorite song.
