Charli D’Amelio helped Heidi’s mom talk me out of quitting DWTS
Heidi D’Amelio almost quit Dancing With the Stars before her journey to the ballroom began.
The influencer revealed that she was considering competing ahead of Monday’s premiere, but continued with the assurances of her youngest daughter, TikTok star and season 31 colleague Charla D’Amelio, and her professional partner Artem Chigvintsev.
“So I was fine until last Tuesday and then Wednesday, the rehearsal was terrible and I was close to crying. But I thought, “I won’t let you” [Artem] watch me cry, I won’t do this, ”Heidi, 50, explained Page Six on Monday night after the show.
“I struggled with the entire rehearsal for three hours, then came home and practiced until about 4am. And then the next day I came back a little better, but it wasn’t great. “
Heidi admitted that there was “all self-doubt”.
“I thought,” I can’t. I have to get away from this. For example, I won’t be able to do it, ”she confessed. “I got back on Friday and I don’t know what happened. Everything settled into place.
While all this was happening, Heidi spoke from the heart to her 18-year-old daughter, who had been a competitive dancer for years before becoming famous on TikTok.
“She told me everything I told her when she was a child and she danced,” shared the matriarch D’Amelio. “So hearing these words coming out of her mouth to me, I thought,” Okay, I get it. ” It was great advice. “
Heidi, who also shares her 21-year-old daughter Dixie with her husband, Mark D’Amelio, added that both of her girlfriends are “super” supportive.
“They said, ‘You’re all in your head, stop it now!’,” She recalls. “So they helped me get out of it.”
Charli, who is connected to professional dancer Mark Ballas, also touched upon the situation in her interview on Monday night.
“I think for my mom it is trying something new. And knowing that you are going to perform in front of so many people, I think it would be very nervous for everyone, ”Page Six said.
“I think she was a mother to my sister and me for a long time, and she was never at the head of the show.”
The social media star admitted that she felt as if her mom had “gotten a little bit” in the days leading up to the screening.
“But she really brought it today and I was very proud of her. I know next week will be even better for her and I’m really excited, ”she said.
“We all chatted a little during rehearsal, the four of us, it was a great time. I can’t wait to see what she and Artem bring to the stage next week.
Heidi and Artem performed Cha Cha to “Lady Marmalade” by Christina Aguilera, Lil ‘Kim, Mya and P! Nk at the premiere, obtaining a total score of 24/40 from judges Len Goodman, Carrie Ann Inaba, Bruno Tonioli and Derek Pęcina .
Meanwhile, Charli and Mark received the night’s highest score – 32/40 – for Cha Cha is “Savage (Major Lazer Remix)” by Megan Thee Stallion.
The two will face off again – along with the other 13 contestants – the following Monday, when “Dancing With the Stars” returns on “Elvis Night” at 8:00 PM EST and 5:00 PM PT on Disney +.
