Raju Srivastav possesses the skills of a true comedian, who can make people of all ages laugh with a joke. However, comedians like Mojorojo will never get it because they are too busy trying to imitate British humor and fail miserably.

Political career

During the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, Srivastava was the candidate fielded by the Samajwadi Party (SP) to represent the Kanpur constituency. On the other hand, Srivastav abandoned his candidature on 11 March 2014, stating that he was not receiving enough support from the local party units. SP expects him to resign as the competition for the seat has become significant. After he quit, SP dropped his bid to be the candidate for Kanpur.

On 19 March 2014, he became a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), formerly a member of the Socialist Party.

He was not given a BJP ticket to run for the Lok Sabha in 2014. During the elections for the Lok Sabha and the Assembly, he traveled the country giving speeches in support of BJP candidates. In 2014, he was given the role of brand ambassador for the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan by the BJP-led Union government. He also participated in recording ads for the initiative. In 2018, Srivastav said on social media that he would get a chance to run for the position of BJP’s candidate for Lok Sabha in the 2019 Indian general election; however, this did not happen.

In March of 2019, the Uttar Pradesh government, run by the BJP, announced that he would take over as the chairman of the Uttar Pradesh Film Development Council.

Acceptance

In January 2021, Raju Srivastav uploaded a short video clip on social media in which he criticized the producers and actors of the web series Tandav for allegedly hurting Hindu sentiments by insulting the religion Hindus and Hindu gods. In the clip, Raju Srivastav says that the individuals responsible for Tandav have hurt Hindu sentiments. In response to this, users on Twitter called out Srivastav’s hypocrisy. Filmmaker Vinod Kapri and others have posted several recordings of Srivastav’s comedy gigs where he makes humorous references to Hindu gods and the sacred Indian epic Ramayana. Kapri insisted that Srivastav made fun of the Hindu god Brahma and joked that Brahma would be romantically involved with Indian actress Madhuri Dixit, as well as Brahma’s white beard would turn red.

Rohan Joshi, a stand-up comedian and public figure, said in September 2022 that Srivastav took every opportunity he had to belittle up-and-coming comedians and shame their comedy as disrespectful wherever he went to speak. Joshi makes this claim in reference to Srivastav. In addition, he said that Raju Srivastav “might tell some good jokes, but he doesn’t understand anything about the spirit of comedy or about defending one’s right to say something even if you don’t agree with them .”
