Sigourney Weaver’s Personal and Family History

Sigourney Weaver comes from a famous and wealthy family in the entertainment industry. An American artist has ancestry from more than one culture. His father’s side of the family is where he gets his Dutch, Scotch-Irish, English, and Scottish ancestry.

Weaver’s parents were Eleanor Isabel and Sylvester Laflin Weaver, and he was their granddaughter. His uncle Doodles Weaver was a comedian. He was born on May 11, 1911 and passed away on January 17, 1983.

His paternal grandmother’s family was connected to American merchant and gunpowder manufacturer Matthew Laflin through their collaboration in the gunpowder industry. The descendants of Charles Laflin, who came from Ulster, Ireland, can be traced back to this family.

Similarly, his mother was Margaret Inglis Hawkins, who was previously married to Alan George Hawkins. She is the mother of Sigourney Weaver and Trajan Victor Charles Weaver, both of whom are her children.

Weaver’s performance in the first film of the Alien trilogy earned her a nomination for the British Academy Film Award for Most Promising Newcomer in a Leading Film Role as well as a Saturn Award for Best Actress. Both awards are presented by the British Film Institute. Weaver was nominated for an Academy Award and a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress as well as a Saturn Award for Best Actress for her performance in the sequel to the Alien franchise, titled Aliens. She went on to win the Saturn Award for Best Actress.

Both “Gorillas in the Mist” and “Working Girl” simultaneously earned Weaver two nominations for the Academy Awards: one for Best Actress and one for Best Supporting Actress.
