Any good New Englander knows that stripes are always the best option. So interior designer Lucinda Loya got a glimpse of stripes after losing sleep trying to make a big statement for her Boston client’s dining room.

The first thing that catches your eye as you exit the elevator to the fourth floor condo in Maison Vernon, a seven-unit building on Beacon Hill, is the Sherwin-Williams Copper Mountain strip in the middle of Emilia Fazzalari Grousbeck and Wyc Grousbeck’s dining room ceiling, wall and window frames. Although Fazzalari Grousbeck is one of her closest friends, the Houston, Texas interior designer had a hard time convincing her of the idea.

Everything in the area started with that strip, according to Loya, “but Emilia changed her mind and thought we shouldn’t do it, so I had to convince her again the day before we were supposed to start painting.”
