Early years

Willoughby was born in Brighton, East Sussex. She is the younger of two daughters of Brian Willoughby, a sales manager for a double-glazing company, and Linda Willoughby (née Fleming), a former air hostess.

She went to Burgess Hill Girls independent school in West Sussex and The College of Richard Collyer in Horsham for her education.

In 1995, Willoughby was 14 years old when talent scouts spotted him on The Clothes Show Live. They signed her to Storm Management modeling agency. She’s been in magazines for teenage girls like Mizz, Just Seventeen, Shout, and More! Willoughby began modeling bras, underwear, and tights in 1998, when she was 17 years old. She did it for clients like Pretty Polly and appeared in ads and posters.

Willoughby won an audition for S Club TV, a CITV show alongside S Club 7 which aired in 2000. In this show, other S Club actors played the roles. She also played the part of Zoe in a show called S Club 7: Artistic Differences with other band members. Willoughby worked briefly as a receptionist and then as a runner for the now-defunct shopping channel Auction World TV.

Willoughby also did odd jobs and started a psychotherapy course through the Open University. Then, when he finally got a job as an assistant manager, he talked a friend into making a showreel of him. This led to him getting an agent, who then contacted the BBC. Later in 2002, Willoughby hosted a fact-based entertainment show for children called Xchange. Willoughby’s first job as a children’s entertainer was in 2004, when he returned to CITV to co-host the Saturday morning show Ministry of Mayhem. She met her future husband, Dan Baldwin, who is one of the producers of this show, on this show. In 2006, the name of the show was changed to Holly & Stephen’s Saturday Showdown to reflect the popularity of Willoughby and Stephen Mulhern, who both host the show.
