Early life
On January 28, 1992, Faruqui was welcomed into the world by his Indian Muslim parents in Junagadh, Gujarat. When he was 16, his family moved to Mumbai after the sectarian violence that took place in Gujarat in 2002 caused the destruction of his home. Shortly after this tragedy, his mother passed away.
When his father fell ill, he had to work at just 17 to support his family. While still at school, he worked in a shop that sold kitchen utensils.
In his early twenties he pursued a career in graphic design. When numerous OTT platforms were launched in India in 2017, he became aware of humor and started working as a comedian. In the same year he also started working as an actor.

In April 2020, he released a standup comedy video titled “Dawood, Yamraaj & Aurat” on his channel, which catapulted him to the forefront of the entertainment industry. In August 2020 he released his first single titled “Jawab” which was a collaboration with an Indian singer named Spectra.
On February 28, 2021, he released a video titled “Ghost Story” on his YouTube channel, which was a standup comedy performance.
In 2022, he took part in the reality TV show Lock Upp hosted by Kangana Ranaut.

Faruqui was in the middle of his tour, during which he performed stand-up comedy at several venues across India. In Indore, Madhya Pradesh, he was performing a stand up show at Munro Cafe on January 1, 2021 when it was interrupted by Eklavya Singh Gaur son of BJP MLA Malini Gaur. Eklavya Singh Gaur accused him of making malicious jokes about Hindu deities and Indian Interior Minister Amit Shah. This claim was made by Eklavya Singh Gaur. In the midst of his comedy routine, he was taken into custody on January 2 by Madhya Pradesh police, who claimed they did so in accordance with hate speech laws in force in India. Although the police had no evidence against Munawar, they arrested him anyway.
His arrest was heavily criticized for not respecting a comedian’s freedom of expression, including through a joint initiative by the global Indian diaspora on February 2, 2021, which said a group of South Asian American stand-up comedians are performing a virtual comedy show will be February 6, 2021 to show their solidarity with the imprisoned Faruqui. Munwar Faruqui has been embroiled in a number of scandals over his testimonies at stand-up comedy performances and remains regularly embroiled in conflict. Their disagreement began on January 1, 2021 in the city of Indore. As part of his act, titled Dongri to Nowhere, he toured the country performing stand-up comedy at various venues.
