Maisie Williams talks about her “traumatic” childhood

Maisie Williams has revealed that she had a “traumatic” childhood that was fueled by her father’s behavior.

“As a small child, before the age of 8, I had a traumatic relationship with my dad”, actress of “Game of Thrones” said in the Monday episode of the podcast “The Diary of a CEO”.

In an interview, the Pistols star described her childhood as someone who “felt very deeply compared to other people.”

While Williams did not go into detail about the specific events surrounding her father as “my siblings and my entire family are affected,” she shared that her mother, Hilary Pitt Frances, was able to “get away” from her father when the TV star was just four months.

“It was bad before,” remarked Williams, the youngest of four of her siblings.

Despite holding back on details, she described the moment a teacher asked her about her home life, planting a seed in her head that something was wrong.

When she was only 8, her teacher asked her if she was hungry, to which she said she was. When the teacher further asked if she had breakfast, she declined because “we just didn’t have breakfast.”

Williams eventually revealed to the teacher that she and her siblings don’t usually eat anything in the morning.

When she cried during the interview, Williams said: “They were asking the right questions. I’ve had so many people who loved me so much and cared for me so much, but I was never asked the right questions where I could really say what’s wrong. “

After an exchange with a teacher, Williams’ mother came to school with her siblings.

“It was really tough because I still wanted to fight and say, ‘No! These things are not bad! You’re trying to get me away from my dad, and that’s wrong! Because I was kind of indoctrinated. “

Williams expressed that she felt her “whole world turned upside down” that day, sharing that while it was good to get away from her father, she knew it was contrary to everything she “knew that is truth”.

Describing her family situation as something of a “cult”, the actress expressed a change in perspective on her father and childhood after many years, and a desire to stop taking the things that happened in her life personally.
