The Dallas Cowboys are mourning a former member of the team.

Gavin Escobar was one of two victims who died while climbing near the Tahquitz Peak Fire Lookout in Southern California on September 28. He was 31 years old.

According to Los Angeles TimesAfter being notified by witnesses, the authorities conducted a search and rescue operation. In the statement on TwitterCal Fire and Riverside County confirmed that Escobar and the other victim, identified by authorities as a 33-year-old Chelsea Walsh– both “died on the spot”.

Escobar, who was 47thousand selected in the second round of the 2013 NFL Draft, played five seasons in the league, four with the Cowboys, and stints with the Baltimore Ravens and Kansas City Chiefs.

After he was released by the Miami Dolphins in 2018, Escobar joined the San Diego Mariners of the newly formed American Football Association, a professional minor league team. Escobar became a firefighter in February 2022, joining the Long Beach Fire Department in California.
