Cooper Rush is an American football quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys in the National Football League (NFL) who has been a quarterback in the NFL since 2017 and now plays for the Dallas Cowboys.

Cooper Robert Rush was born on November 21, 1993 in Charlotte, Michigan. Rush was a three-year starter at Lansing Catholic High School in Michigan, where he played football, baseball and basketball and majored in actuarial science.
Rush led the team to a 13-1 record as a senior, completing 242-of-362 (66.9) passes for 4,002 yards and 48 touchdowns. He rushed for 756 yards and 16 touchdowns and finished his high school career with a 25-5 record.
Rush was a three-star recruit and had scholarship offers from Central Michigan and Toledo but preferred walk-on offers from Michigan, Michigan State, Northwestern and Western Michigan.
College career
Rush redshirted as a true freshman at Central Michigan, where he was the team Offensive Player of the Year and Academic All-America after starting 10-of-11 games and throwing for 2,349 yards, 15 touchdowns and 15 interceptions on 117 carries. Mac was elected. 312 passes (37.5).

Professional career
Rush was undrafted in 2017, but the Dallas Cowboys signed him as an undrafted free agent that same year. He wasn’t pushed for the backup quarterback position in 2019. The Cowboys opted to keep just two quarterbacks on the roster, releasing White at the end of the preseason.
During the game, he spent most of his time in the second-team offense, completing 12 of 13 passes for 115 yards and two touchdowns in a 24–20 victory. He finished the preseason with 38 completions on 51 attempts, 398 yards passing, and six touchdown passes with no interceptions.
Rush was reunited with offensive coordinator Jason Garrett, who previously served as his head coach with the Cowboys, when the New York Giants claimed him off waivers in 2020.
