Uiagalelei’s younger brother Matayo created his own identity

Matayo Uiagalelei excelled in two sports at St. John Bosco and is best known as the younger brother of Clemson quarterback DJ Uiagalelei.

Regardless of the class, the extremely gifted second-grader has made a name for himself in a year as one of the most flexible footballers in the country.

Growing up, Matayo often heard how great his older brother was. Although the younger Uiagalelei played at a different rank, there was still much talk as to whether or not he could meet that bar of excellence.

Uiagalelei grew an inch in height and 35 pounds in muscle in 2020. He’s now 6-5 and 260 pounds, and the Top247 ranking for the class of 2023 ranked him 15th in the country. He now has a collegiate build.

Matayo shares the humility of his older brothers

Much like his older brother in his modesty, Matayo admitted he still has a lot to learn and is not satisfied with his current level of performance.

While aware he can play much better, he is happy with his performance in 2021. He’s looking to pick up the pace and improve his tight-end route running.

According to 247Sports, he wants to play more aggressively and physically on the defensive. Matayo hopes to develop as a pass rusher and diversify this facet of his game while keeping it uncomplicated.

He feels that as a pass rusher, he often tries to overdo it when keeping things simple is preferable. However, he is confident that he can always get better.

Uiagalelei said that while he enjoys playing on both sides of the ball, once he enrolls in college he has a decision to make.

DJ Uiagalelei’s girlfriend, Ava Pritchard, will graduate from Clemson on May 7, 2021 for her bachelor’s degree in marketing. Pritchard is 22 years old.
