Oscar winner Jared Leto makes sure that Karl Lagerfeld’s legacy survives.

Leto, 50, will wear the signature darkened shades of the late fashion designer in his upcoming biopic.

“I feel this is a full circle moment and Karl would be proud of what we do” Leto said Women’s Wear Daily German designer, who died in 2019 at the age of 85.

He was teased that he would capture key accounts in Karl Lagerfeld’s life told through an unpredictable lens like himself, “although he did not talk about the main aspects of the upcoming film.

“My role is to present it on the screen as honestly as possible,” Leto added.

To honor Lagerfeld’s legacy, Leto, who is set to produce the film with his partner Emma Ludbrook, has appointed the late designer’s three closest and most trusted business partners as executive producers of the film.

These include Karl Lagerfeld’s CEO Pier Paolo Righi, Lagerfeld’s Senior Vice President of Image and Communications Caroline Lebar, and Chanel’s Personal Assistant Creative Director, Sébastien Jondeau.

“We’re thrilled to co-create a Karl Lagerfeld film, celebrating his life and legacy with Oscar-winning actor @JaredLeto,” said Karl Lagerfeld’s official Twitter account.

While it might be a daunting thought to portray one of the fashion’s most famous faces on a silver screen, Leto has a lot of experience in the field.

The news comes just days after the Met Gala 2023 topic was revealed “Karl Lagerfeld: The Line of Beauty” is scheduled to take place on May 1
