The dystopian sci-fi drama series “See” is an Original Production on Apple TV+. It was created by Steven Knight (“Peaky Blinders”). The action takes place in a world where a viral pandemic has wiped out the vast majority of humanity. The descendants of the survivors have experienced a loss of their eyesight. The storyline begins when sight returns to earth, and revolves around a man named Baba Vos (Jason Momoa) tasked with protecting his sighted stepchildren from a world where their mere presence is viewed as a blasphemy against God becomes.

The battle for Paya begins in the seventh episode of season 3 entitled “God Thunder” when Sibeth launches an attack with her bombs hurled from trebuchets at Pennsa. See Season 3 Episode 7 Summary

The episode opens with a mixed force of fanatical witch-finders and renegade Trivantian soldiers under the command of Tormada preparing to invade Pennsa. Kofun, who was captured by the witch finders in the previous episode, is brought before Sibeth. Coming to terms with what happened, Kofun is shocked and overcome with guilt, knowing that he is the one who let the troubled and murderous woman go. Kofun tries to argue with Sibeth, reminding her of her son and asking her to be a mother during the brief lull in the bombings that Sibeth introduces to give her sister a chance to reconsider her situation and settle down result. Although it seems unlikely that it will make a difference, she nevertheless sends Kofun to the city to convey her demands to Maghra.

After being knocked unconscious by one of the explosions that hit the palace, Maghra recalls the times when she was with Baba in her nightmares. During this time, Baba, Haniwa, and Ranger make their way to Pennsa, where Baba’s dog, No, leads them to Maghra. They look under the crowd and find Maghra and Tamacti Jun, both injured but still alive. After Kofun arrives and gives the information that this fight is futile for the Payans, Maghra begins to consider the possibility of traveling to Sibeth himself. The Payans have realized that they cannot win this war.

See End of Season 3 Episode 7: What Opens Harlan’s Key?

In episode 6, when Harlan managed to convince the others to abandon him after their encounter with the cannibals, he gives Haniwa a key. Pennsa is Harlan’s city; Maghra’s authority over this is limited to her role as queen of all paya. As a result, it’s reasonable to assume that Harlan has more information about Pennsa than anyone else, even the Queen. Unsurprisingly, when Maghra learns that Harlan has passed away, she is deeply saddened. They have known each other as friends since they were young. She confesses to her daughter that she took advantage of the fact that he loved her and was in love with her. However, Haniwa points out to her that Harlan wasn’t someone to be used in any way if he didn’t want to be used.

In the end, Haniwa manages to find the chest that the key belongs to. Both Maghra and Haniwa discover a card and a chime (aka a tuning fork) inside. At first glance, it appears to be a standard map of Pennsylvania. But upon closer inspection of the map, both the mother and the girl realize that it shows something else: the underground tunnels that Harlan and his smugglers used, which were safe from bombardment by Sibeth’s troops. Realizing that they are losing this conflict, Maghra makes the decision to escape through the tunnels.

Why does Baba decide to confront Sibeth?

When Maghra makes the decision to flee, she doesn’t get the unanimous support of everyone. Tamacti Jun agrees with the decision, but fears they will continue to be pursued, either until they hold their position and fight, or until Sibeth achieves what she desires. Maghra tells Baba that he was always right and that her family should have moved to the mountains instead of getting involved in all the politics and fighting that was going on. She tells Baba that this is the course of action they must take after they come out the other side of the tunnel. With her gone, Maghra hopes her sister can forgive the rest of Paya for what they did to her.

Still, Baba is more realistic than his wife, at least as far as this particular matter is concerned. He is aware that Sibeth will haunt his family no matter where they go because he has been through it before. His wife and their children will never find peace as long as she is alive. Consequently, when no one is looking, he climbs back to the surface and makes his way to Sibeth’s camp. Since Tormada was responsible for Ranger’s torture, Ranger decides to join him and get revenge on him.

In the 21st century, a virus was responsible for wiping out the vast majority of humanity. Fewer than two million people survived, and none of their descendants can see today. The knowledge of the ancient, seeing world has been lost or corrupted, and humanity has reverted to tribal, hunter-gatherer cultures and societies similar to those that existed in the Middle Ages. Some people believe that gods used supernatural means to create materials like metal, concrete, and plastic. Others think that these materials have always been there.

A pregnant woman named Maghra sets out to seek refuge with the Alkenny tribe in the mountains. Baba Voss, chief of the Alkenny people, cannot have children of his own, so instead of trying to have children of his own, he decides to marry her and adopt her children. Her real father, Jerlamarel, is on the run from the Queen of the Payan Kingdom, accused of practicing the heretical religion of “sighting” (the natural ability to see). Rumors quickly spread that Jerlamarel is the father of children, leading to a manhunt for Jerlamarel and his children. Against the Queen’s soldiers, Baba Voss is tasked with defending not only his family but also his tribe.
