She started working for Reuters Television in Africa in 1992, mainly as a senior producer. Using what she said, ‘In other words, is what General McChrystal and his staff are doing really so terrible that they deserved to end a career like McChrystal’s? Michael Hastings hasn’t exactly given his country the service that McChrystal has.” What they did was absolutely reprehensible, according to Jamie McIntyre, a former top military correspondent for CNN, and her comments “sadly validated the worst caricature of reporters ’embedding’ with senior military officials, but are in fact ‘in bed’ with them.” He went on to quote Admiral Mike Mullen as saying that military personnel should be impartial and refrain from criticizing civilian authorities.
