Just King Viserys royally spoiled

During the October 9 episode House of the DragonPrincess Rhaenyra (Emma d’Arcy) and Queen Alicent (Olivia Cooke) finally made up after being at odds for years. Not only had Alicent recognized Rhaenyra as the rightful heir to the Iron Throne, but the former friends seemed willing to spend time together.

Unfortunately, this moment of peace was shattered after Viserys’s deathbed confession (Paddy Considine), when he told his wife about the “promised prince” prophecy. “You wanted to know if I believed it to be true,” said a confused Viserys as Alicent reassured him. “Don’t you remember? Aegon. His dream, a song of ice and fire.”

Continuing, Viserys said that what Aegon (his ancestor, not Alicent’s son) saw in the North was true. “A prince to unite the kingdom against the cold and the dark,” he explained. “This is you, you are the only one. You have to do it.”

This message from the dying Viserys seems to have inspired Alicent to return to her mission to lay down her son Aegon (Tom Glynn-Carney) enthroned above Rhaenyra as she told her husband, “I understand, my king.”
