Ariana DeBose slams haters who question her historic Oscar win

Ariana DeBose doesn’t want to fight with his haters.

Seven months after making history as the first queer woman of color to win an Oscar, West Side Story – the actress addressed everyone who doubted her. “There were insinuations that I was given the Oscar because I’m queer and because I’m Afro-Latina,” she said. “We wouldn’t be discussing my identity,” she continued, “or any labels attached to my name if my work wasn’t exceptional.”

Yes, she deserves everything she has earned.

“I’ve always said that I don’t believe that I need to hand over anything,” said the 31-year-old football player. “I want to earn my place at the table. I don’t believe everyone gets gold stars just because you tried,’ she told the publication. “I want a gold star because I broke my balls to be where I am.”
