The alum of “Friends” Matthew Perry looked healthy for just a few days before revealing that his opioid addiction nearly killed him.

The 53-year-old actor was spotted last week with a friend in Los Angeles.

Perry – who canceled his engagement to literary manager Molly Hurwitz in June 2021 – was seen talking to a mysterious brunette while walking around the garage.

A woman, wearing a flowery yellow sunshade dress and white sandals, sat in the passenger seat of his car.

The trip took place just days before the actor’s stunning discovery that, at his height in his struggle with addiction, he had suffered “gastrointestinal perforation”, which resulted in him falling into a two-week coma followed by a five-month hospital stay. He also had to use a colostomy bag for nine months due to a health crisis.

“Doctors told my family that I had a 2% chance of survival” said the People on Wednesday.

“I have been given what is called an ECMO machine that does all the breathing functions for the heart and lungs. And it’s called the Hail Mary. Nobody will survive this.

The Whole Nine Yards star said the scars on his stomach – along with the thought of having to carry a colostomy pouch for the rest of his life – were a stern reminder not to take Oxycontin again, saying, “All I have to do is look Down”.

Before publishing a new diary, “Friends, lovers and a great scary thing” on Nov 1, Perry also honestly said what he was looking for in a partner.

“Someone with their own wealth is a very crucial element for me,” he admitted. “I’ve been burned a few times by women who wanted my money without caring about me… it happens more often than you think.”

Perry also noted that he wanted his future girlfriend to have a “sense of humor, [be] beautiful inside and out ”and caring for others.

“[And] it’s really important, someone who can reconcile with me, ”he explained. “The next person I really take seriously is someone I’ll be in love with and not be afraid of the things that scared me.”

He added, “I’m not afraid of love anymore, so the next girl I’m going out with, you better watch out.”
