The first day of the When We Were Young festival has been canceled due to a strong wind warning.

As announced shared on various channels on social mediafestival organizers said they had been preparing the Las Vegas Festival Grounds for a windy day over the past few days.

However, after the National Weather Service updated its forecast to a “High Wind Warning,” they felt it appropriate to cancel today’s appearances.

“The safety of our fans, artists and staff will always be our top priority,” the press release reads.

“We were just as excited and devastated to have to share this news.”

The organizers also noted that ticket holders would be refunded – and the screenings on October 23 and 29 “move ahead accordingly”.

The announcement met with mixed emotions as some people applauded the decision and others were upset that they had traveled this far for nothing.

“Thank you for putting safety first and I apologize in advance for all the awful responses. People are obviously emotional and off-putting – this is difficult – but we know you obviously didn’t want to make this conversation. They don’t realize how much you eat $$$ to keep safety first, ”one person tweeted.

“Wind information is just a prediction of how bad the weather could be. They didn’t know that [sic] the winds would be SO bad. I’d rather be safe from getting hurt today. Don’t put all the blame on an organization that can’t control the winds. I’m sure they will come up with a different solution ”, a second he wrote.

However, others had problems with delaying the announcement with one person tweeting“You could have posted it last night, it’s crazy.”

The second added: “They took bail on us within an hour after the show. No warnings, no nothing. We literally booked a ride to the concert and had to cancel. Unprofessional above-mentioned. “

“What are you going to do for those who left work on a busy weekend, spent money on hotels as well as money on plane tickets?” three he asked.
