The appointed Prime Minister of the United Kingdom is a British politician named Rishi Sunak, born on 12 May 1980. He has been the leader of the Conservative Party since 24 October 2022. Before that, he held the position of Chief Secretary to the Treasury from 2019 to 2020 and Chancellor of the Exchequer from 2020 to 2022. He has served as Richmond (Yorks Member)’s of Parliament (MP) since 2015. Sunak was born in Southampton to parents who immigrated to Britain from East Africa in the 1960s and from Punjabi Indian descent.

He attended Winchester College for his undergraduate studies, Lincoln College, Oxford for his Philosophy, Politics, and Economics (PPE) courses, and Stanford University in California for his MBA as a Fulbright Scholar. He met Akshata Murty, the daughter of NR Narayana Murthy, the wealthy Indian businessman who founded Infosys, while attending Stanford University, where she would later become his wife. With a combined fortune of £730 million as of 2022, Sunak and Murty are the 222nd and 243rd richest individuals in Britain respectively. After graduating, Sunak worked for Goldman Sachs before becoming a partner at Children’s Investment Fund Management and Theleme Partners, two hedge fund companies.

Sunak succeeded William Hague as Richmond’s representative for North Yorkshire in the House of Commons after the 2015 general election. Sunak voted in the 2016 referendum to leave the EU. In the cabinet upheaval in 2018, he was chosen to serve as Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Local Government in Theresa May’s second government. He cast three yes votes to May’s Brexit withdrawal agreement. Sunak supported Boris Johnson’s bid to lead the Conservative Party after May’s resignation. Sunak was appointed Chief Secretary to the Treasury by Johnson after being elected and given the position of Prime Minister. After the departure of Sajid Javid during the cabinet change in February 2020, Sunak took over the position of finance minister.

As chancellor, Sunak played a key role in the government’s financial response to the COVID-19 epidemic and its effects on the economy, including its coronavirus job-preservation programs and Eat Out to Help Out. On July 5, 2022, he left his position as chancellor. Johnson then left her position in the midst of a political crisis. Rishi Sunak’s childhood and upbringing

Sunak was born in Southampton, Hampshire, on May 12, 1980. To Yashvir and Usha Sunak, Hindu parents of Indian Punjabi descent who were born in Africa.

He is the middle child of three siblings. His mother was born in Tanganyika, while his father was born and raised in the colony and protectorate of Kenya (present-day Kenya) (which later became part of Tanzania). His grandparents moved with their family from East Africa to the United Kingdom in the 1960s; they were born in the Punjab district of British India. Ramdas Sunak, his paternal grandfather, came to Nairobi in 1935 to work as a clerk. His wife Suhag Rani Sunak followed from Delhi in 1937.

Ramdas Sunak was originally from Gujranwala (in present-day Pakistan). Raghubir Sain Berry MBE, his maternal grandfather, was a tax official in Tanganyika and had three children with 16-year-old Sraksha, who was born in Tanganyika. The family moved to the United Kingdom in 1966, with the money Raksha had raised by selling her wedding jewelry. A collector, Raghubir Berry was named a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in the 1988 Birthday Honors list after joining the Inland Revenue in the UK. Usha was a pharmacist who oversaw a neighborhood pharmacy, and Yashvir was a family doctor.

Rishi Sunak .’s Commercial Career

Between 2001 and 2004, Sunak worked as an analyst for the financial institution Goldman Sachs.
He then worked at Children’s Investment Fund Management, a hedge fund management company, where he became a partner in September 2006. In November 2009, he left to work with old colleagues at Theleme Partners, a new hedge fund firm that opened in October 2010 and has $700 million under management. Patrick Degorce was his supervisor at both hedge funds. Between 2013 and 2015, he was a director of Catamaran Ventures, an investment company controlled by his father-in-law, Indian entrepreneur NR Narayana Murthy.
