Vulnerability in taking “immediate steps” to remove Yeezy products

Gap is now taking “immediate steps” to remove all Yeezy products from its stores and site in the wake of Kanye West’s anti-Semitic comments.

The retailer ended his relationship with the rapper last month and Gap Brands chairman and CEO Mark Breitbard confirmed he would continue “upcoming Yeezy Gap launches and releases as planned,” in an internal email received by Page Six Style.

But in the wake of West’s White Lives Matter and anti-Semitic comments – which featured Adidas, Balenciaga, Vogue and other severed ties with the 45-year-old rapper – Gap is taking steps to get rid of his Yeezy Harvest quickly.

“In September, Gap announced the end of the Yeezy Gap partnership. The recent comments and behavior of our former partner additionally emphasize why, ”wrote the brand in a public statement on its website.

“We are taking immediate steps to remove the Yeezy Gap product from our stores and we have closed YeezyGap.com.”

They continued: “Anti-Semitism, racism and hatred of any kind are unforgivable and not tolerated according to our values. On behalf of our clients, employees and shareholders, we work with organizations that combat hatred and discrimination. ”

West originally ended a 10-year partnership – which was announced in 2020 and its first style will be available in stores in 2021 – due to allegations that the brand has fallen short of its promises to release some styles and to open dedicated Yeezy stores.

The relationship between Ye and the seller was strained, with fans complaining about the display of his garbage bags in stores.

The only styles ever offered at Gap’s retail stores were his Balenciaga-designed Yeezy Gap designs, which were displayed in piles on garbage bags, which annoyed fans who wanted to buy the designs for $ 200, although he declined to apologize for the exhibition.

And that seems to be one constant for Ye: despite loud opposition, West has yet to apologize for any of his statements or comment on the various brands breaking ties with him.
