Elizabeth Debicki turns into Princess Diana in more than one way.

The 32-year-old actress “Crown” wore a stunning black Dior gown on yesterday’s Netflix season fifth premiere – and her appearance brought back memories of a very similar outfit worn by her true royal counterpart.

Debicki – who plays Princess Diana in the show’s new season – walked the red carpet in a dress from the Dior Haute Couture Spring / Summer 2022 collection that resembled Princess Diana’s Catherine Walker blue dress at the 1987 Cannes Film Festival.

The Great Gatsby actress’s gown had a similarly gathered neckline, but while the princess look featured a real scarf worn over the back and with a knot, the fabric of Dębicki’s draped corset stretched in a racing style that wrapped around her neck to form a sort of train .

According British VogueIt took the Dior team 300 hours to create the silk crepe, and the fashion house announced yesterday that the star of “Crown”, who will also play the role of Diana in season 6, is now Dior Joaillerie’s ambassador.

Correspondingly, Dębicki was equipped with many of the brand’s jewels, including Rose Dior Couture rose gold and diamonds earring ($ 6000) in one ear and Bois de Rose cuff ($ 2,300) on the other ear.

She added a few The Grove of the Rose rings and bracelets along with a poppy-seed brooch pinned to her bra to complete her premiere night-time look.

Debicki’s black evening dress also matched the new season’s tailoring theme, with Princess Diana who, after parting with Prince Charles, wore the iconic black “revenge dress” and a more aggressive style.

Royal expert Kinsey Schofield spoke to Page Six Style ahead of today’s Season 5, saying that “there is something so iconic about [revenge dress] to get dressed, it’s almost like cosplaying to someone else.

“I think their dress is beautiful, but to be honest there is no comparison to the original,” she added.

Season 5 of “Crowns” is now airing on Netflix.
