Melissa Joan Hart denies feuding with Lena Dunham
Melissa Joan Hart made rumors that she had ever had “beef” with Lena Dunham and pointed out that she hadn’t even met the creator of The Girls.
“I am a fan of Lena’s work and everything she does to support women in our industry, and I hope to share my latte one day,” Sabrina the Teenage Witch graduate, 46, wrote on Instagram on Friday.
“Please be careful not to get caught up in the hateful rhetoric of those sites that promote divisions and throw nonsense for profit.”
Hart noted that she was referring to these rumors only because “many friends” asked her about the alleged rivalry.
The graduate of “Melissa and Joey” also posted screenshots of what was uploaded to Deuxmoi’s Instagram account.
One post claimed that Anjelica Huston – who worked alongside Hart on Lifetime’s “Watcher in the Woods” – said some “very nasty things” about 36-year-old Dunham at one party, possibly because of her friendship with “Dunham’s enemy.”
Another post claimed that Hart and Dunham had been “enemies for a long time,” claiming that they somehow knew each other because the father of “Not That Girl” was friends with the creator of Hart’s children’s program “Clarissa Explains Everything.”
“The argument over dinner over children’s drag queens was just one piece of the puzzle,” the source said. “Melissa has a talent for alienating people in her life – they disappear like magic.”
Hart wrote on her Instagram in response: “We don’t have ‘beef’, and if I remember correctly, we didn’t even have the pleasure of meeting, let alone having enough relationship to guarantee ourselves a discussion about drag queens at any time.”
A mother of four added: “I am a fan of Lena’s work and everything she does to support women in our industry, and I hope to share a latte one day.”
Dunham, for his part, did not address the rumors of feuds.
