Andy Cohen criticizes Bethenny Frankel’s new “Housewives” podcast
Andy Cohen can’t believe Bethenny Frankel is launching her new podcast “Rewives” after she’s been “destroying” the Bravo franchise for years.
during his Sirius XM radio show “Radio Andy”, the Bravo boss explained why he told Page Six that he was “shocked” by Frankel’s decision to start a podcast focused on her “Real Housewives of New York” experience.
“I was surprised by this because she has been destroying the show for the last three years,” he said Wednesday.
“So I thought, ‘She was talking about it being toxic,’ and that’s that and every bad thing you can think of being quoted talking about the show… and now she’s doing a ‘Housewife’ roundup podcast.”
“I see her quotes, especially ones that are negative about the show. That’s why I was surprised,” he added.
Cohen exclusively told us last week that he “was a little surprised” to hear about Frankel’s new venture after she left the franchise for good in 2019.
“But again I thought, ‘Oh, that’s good, good for you.’ The more “Housewives” podcasts, the better,” continued King of Bravo.
Frankel, who has been on and off the reality show since 2008, announced that she was launching the “Housewives” podcast earlier this month.
“I’m going back to housewives… on my terms… and I’m going to do it SAY IT ALL!” she wrote on Instagram.
However, many former associates of the Skinny Girl founder – and fans – were quick to criticize the reality TV star’s decision to return to the world of Desperate Housewives.
Just days after Frankel’s big announcement, Luann de Lesseps pulled out the “desperate” entrepreneur.
“It’s pretty sad and pathetic that she has to resort to Housewives because of all the failed twists and turns since Housewives.” he said in an episode of “Everything Iconic”, adding that Frankel is committed to “st on” all the women on the show.
Carole Radziwill – who starred in “RHONY” from 2012 to 2018 – also made some shots in the controversial Bravolebrity.
“She built her brand by destroying and mocking women, especially HW and Betheny [sic]. he always goes back to what he does best. I mean, right outside the gate, he talks crap about other HW podcasts. lol. Good luck to her. Something will never change,” Radziwiłł wrote on Twitter at the time.
Despite all the backlash, Frankel defended her decision, saying she was taking control of her narrative after not being “proud” of her time on the Bravo franchise.
“This is my perspective, my story, my show, my experience vs. we didn’t control the editing, we didn’t control the process, we didn’t control who we surround ourselves with and the tours went on, we weren’t responsible,” she wrote in an Instagram story.
