Morale at MSNBC is low as the network moves to the center

Tiffany cross controversial traitor is not the only problem plaguing MSNBC.

The morale of the left-leaning network is “in the toilet” and its liberal hosts are now worried that the network’s executives have no backs over Cross’s alleged treatment.

“People are afraid. The consensus is this [MSNBC president Rashida Jones] is trying to take down MSNBC and turn it into something the right won’t be mad at. What about our main customers? one of the informants explained.

Multiple sources have told us as soon as Jones took over in 2021months after hiring Cross, “she had meetings where she said she didn’t want any teasing or name-calling. She seemed particularly concerned about anyone who said anything negative about Fox News,” the source added.

Another NBC insider confirmed Jones’ new direction, telling us: “Like CNN, trying to go straight in the middle feels like what an appetite is. MSNBC identity is being picked up.”

“The current trend is that everyone is leaning towards being less divisive,” the source added.

Meanwhile, Cross was not afraid to respond to attacks from conservative critics such as Tucker Carlson and Megyn Kelly. A defensive comment by the former host of “The Cross Connection” partly led to her being thrown off the axe, according to insiders who previously told The Post that Cross was attacked for “name-calling” and making “vulgar” comments.

A Cross representative did not comment.

Others online are now asking, “What was so vulgar when there are people like that [MSNBC] the talent of Nicole Wallace and Joe Scarborough who swear on TV? In what emergency situation did she have to be fired before her contract expired at the end of the year?

An MSNBC spokesperson said the network “has taken the programming decision to cancel the show. The newsgroup makes these business decisions all the time.”

Our first insider told us that the liberals at the company were starting to “feel like a target and there is no protection from the bosses.”

It also doesn’t help that unlike his predecessor, Phil Griffin, Jones “has nothing to do with talent,” according to multiple sources.

In fact, we were told that the staff miss the days of Griffin, who was “a real MSNBC guy.”

“It’s like Rashida doesn’t like MSNBC. Nobody knows what her vision is. She doesn’t have them,” the source said. “She is [former NBC News chairman] Buddy of Andy Lack who is obsessed with overpasses and getting Fox News’ main audience. They don’t look [MSNBC]”.

Others who are more team-oriented, Jones painted a more rosy picture of his boss, explaining: “He’s been at NBC News and MSNBC for almost a decade and has a strong relationship with talent … It’s ridiculous to say that Rashida is pushing for a mainstream audience … in just two years. short years, gives MSNBC fans more of what they want on whatever platform they use.”

Still, many online fear that Jones is “out of her head.”

“He’s a great number 2, but he can’t steer the ship and get it to port,” said a second source.
