Eddie Cibrian left CSI: Miami because the network wanted to focus on a smaller cast of regular cast members. Eddie is probably best known for his role on the series CSI: Miami.
Eddie was not included in the series for a variety of reasons, all of which are explored further in this piece.
Fans of the television series CSI: Miami have recently started re-watching it, despite it not having aired for nearly a decade. The cast of CSI: Miami, as well as die-hard fans, were surprised to learn the show had been canceled. Initially, the show’s tenth season was only supposed to consist of 19 episodes. This was reportedly done to make room on the CBS schedule for a new show called NYC 22, which only ran for a single season.
Actress Eva LaRue, who played Detective Natalia Boa Vista on the television show CSI: Miami, expressed regret to Digital Spy at the time, saying the cast “didn’t get a chance to say goodbye to the audience or to each other.”
The series’ conclusion left a bad taste in many viewers, who felt that CSI: Miami could have had more stories told and had more “character development” over the course of the show.
Why did Eddie Cibrian leave CSI Miami?
Eddie Cibrian resigned from his role as lead investigator on CSI: Miami for a number of reasons, one of which was Eddie’s decision not to continue the series.
According to Deadline, CBS didn’t renew Eddie Cibrian’s contract because the network wanted to “focus on a core group of cast members” who have been with the show since its inception.
Originally written to replace Eric Delko by Adam Rodriguez, the character of Eddie was deemed unnecessary with Adam’s return in Season 9.
Cibrian made his final appearance on CSI Miami as Jesse Cardoza in the pilot episode of the program’s ninth season. In this episode, a serial killer harbored a grudge against Horatio’s team and directed the use of poison gas in the lab.
However, Jesse was the only person to die as a result of the incident as he was conducting research in the lab at the time. However, instead of succumbing to the effects of the gas, he died as a result of a blow to the head from shards of glass that had broken off a camera lens. One of these shards became embedded in his brain and caused a hemorrhage.
Following his departure from CSI: Miami, Eddie Cibrian starred in a number of critically acclaimed films and television shows including the dramas For Better or Worse, Rosewood, The Playboy Club and Take-Two. In 2021 he made his last television appearance playing the role of Beau in the Netflix comedy series Country Comfort.
