An Italian model claims he was fired from the 2024 Met Gala after outshining Kylie Jenner at last year’s ceremony.
Eugenio Casnighi went to TikTok on Saturday to explain that he would no longer be working as a greeter at Monday’s event at the Metropolitan Museum of Art after his good looks went viral on the Internet a year earlier.
“I just got kicked out of the Met Gala,” the 26-year-old said before showing off several photos next to the “Kardashians” star. “Remember me?”
Casnighi, who has worked for the Met Gala for the past two years, claimed he was never able to talk about the attention the event received because he was under an NDA.

“It’s funny that they fired me, so now I can say whatever I want,” said the model, claiming that he had just received his notice on Friday. “They fired me because I became popular last year.”
“They basically said, ‘You’ve done it on your own, so we can’t let you work there anymore.’ Sorry.'”
Explaining his previous role as greeter, he continued: “Last year they told me I would be staying all night with 26-year-old Jenner and I [helped] her [with] whatever she needed.
Casnighi explained what modeling agency he works for and that the Met Gala wants models to work on the red carpet because “they want people to get noticed.”
“They literally told me we chose you because we liked you around this celebrity more than any other person, but when people took pictures of a real celebrity… like Kylie Jenner and I, we were next to her… of course, I ended up in the photo and they blamed me.”
In addition to his rant, Casnighi also shared a viral clip from a fan showing him alongside last year’s red carpet host Emma Chamberlain, who interviewed Blackpink’s Jennie Kim.
Although the clip showed the Italian standing on his side, the fan couldn’t help but zoom in on the handsome guy and write, “I’m trying to focus on Emma’s conversation with Jennie but…”
In the next clip he is explained there’s a possibility that Met Gala organizers decided against hiring any models at the event this year because he mentioned that he found out that his colleague was also fired.
He also shared various text messages and emails confirming that he would be working on the carpet before being released.
Casnighi added that organizers have even tightened the NDA for this year’s event, telling employees that they cannot publish or republish any content from the Met Gala, even if it does not concern them.
Several fans rushed to support Casnighi in the comments, with one writing: “Can’t stand your beauty going viral.”
“I’m confused, why isn’t this good? Doesn’t drawing attention to the event benefit the company?” another chimed in, and a third added: “Amore, you are wonderful. Better things will happen to you. their loss.”
Last year, Jenner hit the red carpet in an oversized blue coat and a red gown designed by Haider Ackermann for Jean Paul Gaultier.
She turned heads as she climbed the iconic steps with her older sisters Kim Kardashian and Kendall Jenner.
