Why did Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds reportedly skip the 2024 Met Gala?
The 2024 Met Gala may be over, but the annual fashion extravaganza will feel a bit incomplete without some of its biggest names gracing the steps of the Met this year.
That’s certainly the case with fan-favorite “Queen of the Met Gala” Blake Lively, who was a no-show at the fashion-themed fundraiser at the Metropolitan Museum of Art on Monday night.
The “Gossip Girl” alum’s absence marks the second consecutive absence for the actress and her husband Ryan Reynolds, much to the disappointment of fans.
Instead of going to the “Sleeping Beauties: Awakening Fashion” themed ball, the couple decided to stay home with their four children for an evening of family time. according to Elle.
“BlakeLively’s absence from the Met Gala just ruins the entire event. Honestly, they shouldn’t have this unless @blakelively is present. It’s her show, everyone else is just a guest,” one fan wrote on X.
Other he wrote“pretending not to care that Blake Lively isn’t there to save the #MetGala night,” while a third added“The Met Gala isn’t over yet, because where is Blake Lively?”

Lively, who co-chaired the 2022 event with the 47-year-old Deadpool actor, was in New York this month, prompting speculation that she was scheduled to appear on Monday’s red carpet.
The 36-year-old “A Simple Favor” actress attended a star-studded party at the Tiffany & Co. flagship store last week. in New York, which she ultimately allowed to be her big May fashion moment.
Lively opted for a blue beaded look to celebrate the launch of Pharrell Williams’ Tiffany Titan collection, pairing her look with two diamond bird brooches – one with a massive yellow diamond drop weighing over 16 carats – with her gown.

Lively kept the Tiffany blue theme going with embellished Gucci heels, wore her blonde hair in dramatic curls and highlighted her features with light pink lipstick.
But Lively wasn’t the only big star missing from Monday’s star-studded lineup.
Fellow Met Gala favorite Rihanna was forced to leave the fashion festivities at the eleventh hour after coming down with the flu following a weekend trip to Miami for the F1 Grand Prix.
Elsewhere, Jared Leto did not attend this year’s Met Gala due to his band 30 Seconds to Mars’ “Seasons World Tour.”
The “it” couple of the year, Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce, were also absent from the Met steps – even though they both received invitations.
Swift was unable to attend due to her “Eras” tour resuming on May 6 in Paris.
Other Met Gaga favorites, including Lady Gaga, Hailey Bieber and Bella Hadid, were also absent from Monday’s event.
