Leah McSweeney revealed that she was diagnosed with Lyme disease.
The 41-year-old “Real Housewives of New York City” alum shared a screenshot of her test results on her Instagram on Thursday.
“I AM SHOCKED,” she told her followers. “Please send me your Lyme disease success stories.”
McSweeney noted, “It’s a new infection, not a chronic one,” meaning she was likely recently bitten by a blacklegged (deer) tick carrying the Borrelia bacteria.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Preventiontypical symptoms of Lyme disease – a bacterial infection – include fever, headache, fatigue and a characteristic skin rash called erythema migrans.
According to the CDC, the infection, if left untreated, can spread to the joints, heart and nervous system.
Agency will certainly note it that after treatment with antibiotics, approximately 5 to 10 percent of people diagnosed with Lyme disease will develop long-term symptoms of fatigue, body aches or trouble thinking as a result of the infection.
Still little is known about chronic Lyme disease.
“I’m sorry to all my friends that I’ve canceled on over the last few months because I felt like crap,” McSweeney added.
She then posted a photo showing 16 vials of her blood stacked on a counter.
“Everything’s great 😂,” she wrote sarcastically under the photo.
It’s been an eventful few months for the former Bravo star, who is now sober.
In February, she filed a lawsuit against both the network and executive producer Andy Cohen, claiming they preyed on her drinking problems in an attempt to get positive ratings for “RHONY” and “The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip.”
The mother of one attacked Cohen, alleging that he offered cocaine to certain talents for whom he then did special professional favors.
Cohen has vehemently denied the allegations and his lawyers have demanded an apology.
Although he never received it, a network spokesperson told Page Six last week that an “external investigation” found that the claims made against the “Watch What Happens Live” host “were found to be without merit.”
McSweeney’s lawyers called BS.
“How do you conduct an investigation without talking to anyone? As far as we know, no one has ever contacted our company,” one of its lawyers said when the news made headlines. “Our opinion is that no one will believe this was a real investigation.”
“It’s the perfect moment. One line so they can repeat it to all advertisers on the front pages of newspapers,” the lawyer added.
“We look forward to reviewing all interviews, evidence and final reports from NBCU’s investigation as we receive them during the discovery phase of the lawsuit.”
