Valerie Bertinelli is taking a break from social media to protect her mental health
Valerie Bertinelli is logging off social media for a while.
One Day at a Time graduate, 64, shared via Instagram Friday that she felt she needed a “cleanse/detox” and a mental health break.
“The last six weeks have been… A LOT,” Bertinelli admitted under a selfie.
She added, “And while I’m incredibly grateful for all of your support for my book and everyone I’ve been lucky enough to meet, this introvert disguised as an extrovert needs a mental health break.”
Bertinelli said she didn’t feel the need to announce her departure, but decided to open up about her departure to fans who are “worried” about her if she “doesn’t post often enough.”
However, she assured her followers: “I’m fine. Honest.”
“A little social media cleanse/detox and a mental health break is a good thing and I’m grateful that I’m at a point in my life where I’m aware enough to know when I’m feeling overwhelmed and mentally/emotionally exhausted – she concluded.
Bertinelli also shared her announcement post on her Instagram Stories, which plays Taylor Swift’s song “I Can’t Do It With a Broken Heart.”
The cookbook author seems to have been listening to the pop star’s latest album, The Tortured Poets Department, a lot lately.
Back in April, Bertinelli and celebrity chef Mike Goodnough shared an official Instagram photo of themselves smiling along to the lyrics of the song “So High School,” inspired by Swift’s beau Travis Kelce.
“🎶 I’ll drink what you think and I’m high from smoking your jokes all night long 🎶,” the caption read.
Goodnough announced he was dating the sitcom star last month in an essay, after originally meeting her on Instagram.
