Cassie Ventura’s legal team slams Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ ‘pathetic’ apology video for 2016 assault footage

Cassie Ventura’s legal team has sharply criticized Sean “Diddy” Combs’ video apology days after surveillance footage showing him assaulting her in 2016 was leaked online.

On Sunday, a music mogul published a minute-long video referring to disturbing footage showing him punching, kicking and dragging his ex in a hotel hallway. Although he admitted he was “truly sorry” for his “inexcusable behavior,” he never mentioned Ventura’s name in the apology clip.

“Combs’ latest statement is more about himself than the many people he has harmed,” Meredith Firetog, a partner at Wigdor LLP, the law firm representing Ventura, told Page Six in a statement Sunday.

“When Cassie and numerous other women came forward, he denied everything and suggested his victims were looking for a payout.”

She continued: “The fact that he was forced to ‘apologize’ only after his repeated denials turned out to be false shows his pathetic desperation and no one will be swayed by his disingenuous words.”

In his apology, Combs explained that “it’s hard to reflect on life’s darkest moments, but sometimes it has to be done.”

The “I’ll Be Missing You” rapper claimed he “f**ked up” and “hit rock bottom” at the time of the 2016 attack.

“My behavior while watching this video is inexcusable,” he said. “I take full responsibility for my actions in this video. I’m disgusted. I was disgusted when I did it then, and I’m disgusted now.”

Shortly after the assault, Combs said he “sought professional help” and began attending “therapy and rehabilitation” regularly.

“I’m very sorry, but every day I try to be a better person,” he concluded. “I’m not asking for forgiveness. I’m really sorry.”

The “Me & U” singer filed a bombshell lawsuit against Combs in November 2023, alleging that, among other things, he physically abused and raped her during their decade-long relationship.

Although Combs called her claims “offensive and outrageous,” the two agreed to an undisclosed amount just a day after filing.

However, the rapper’s legal team later stated that the settlement “is in no way an admission of guilt.”

In a deposition, Ventura detailed a 2016 hotel robbery, claiming Combs was “extremely intoxicated” and punched her “in the face,” leaving her with a “black eye.”

When she tried to leave the room, with her hoodie pulled up to hide her injuries, Combs – wearing only a towel – chased her.

“He grabbed her and then took glass vases from the hallway and threw them at her, causing the glass to shatter around them as she ran to the elevator to escape,” the report said.

The video shows Combs dragging Ventura to the ground by her neck before kicking her repeatedly. He then dragged her by her hood down the hall.

“This shocking video has only further confirmed Mr. Combs’ disturbing and predatory behavior,” Ventura’s attorney, Douglas H. Wigdor, said in a statement to Page Six last week.

“Words cannot express the courage and fortitude that Ms. Ventura has shown in bringing this matter to light.”
