Billie Eilish insisted that ex Jesse Rutherford is not “bad guy”.
IN unpublished fragment from Eilish Cover of Rolling Stonethe “Happier Than Ever” singer revealed that a year after their split, she and Rutherford are still on good terms.
“He’s my guy, he’s honestly one of my favorite people in the world,” the 22-year-old said of the 32-year-old “Neighborhood” frontman.
In May 2023, Page Six confirmed that the duo had “amicably separated” after less than nine months of dating. Eilish’s rep then called any speculation about infidelity “false.”
Although Eilish has rarely spoken about Rutherford since their split, fans were quick to guess which songs he may have inspired on her new album, “Hit Me Hard and Soft.”
However, the question “What was I created for?” the singer told Rolling Stone that the record was influenced by several different people and experiences, encouraging fans to refrain from playing the guessing game.
“As songwriters, our job is to write songs about what we think we want to write about,” she explained. “It’s my job. That’s why I’m here.”
She continued: “But the reaction can be really toxic and I just don’t want to do anything that highlights that. I want to make it clear: please don’t take it and run. Take it, feel it, sit there, understand it and hear me.
The nine-time Grammy winner, who recently came out as queer, also seemingly confirmed that she is currently single and plans to remain that way for some time.
“I plan on never dating again,” she joked. “That’s obviously not true. But no, I don’t see myself getting serious with anyone until I find someone who’s really right for me, and that’s not interesting to me at the moment.
In an extensive interview with the outlet, Eilish explained that the process of creating her latest album helped her come to terms with her sexuality.
“Lunch” in particular – a song about falling in love with a girl – helped her tap into her most authentic self.
“That song was actually part of what helped me become who I am, to be real,” she said. “I wrote part of it before I even did anything with the girl, and I wrote the rest after.”
“I’ve loved girls all my life, but I just didn’t understand – until last year, I realized that I wanted to have my face in a vagina,” the “gorgeous” singer further admitted.
