Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck’s close pal Jason Mewes ‘would be shocked’ if they split amid divorce rumors

A close friend of Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck, Jason Mewes, addressed the divorce rumors surrounding the couple.
The “Jay and Silent Bob Strikes Back” star (49) was asked about the duo’s relationship and whether she thinks they will part ways soon.
“I would be shocked” – Mewes he told TMZ Wednesday.
Mewes’ friendship with the Oscar winner spans more than two decades, as they starred together in “Dogma” and “Chasing Amy,” among other comedy classics.
In August 2022, Mewes attended Bennifer’s lavish nuptials at Affleck’s home in Georgia.
“I’m being mean,” Mewes said when asked about the couple’s wedding. “When you were there and watched them interact, sing,” she sang to him, “it seemed that after 20 years, they and everything that was happening, [to be] very honest and real.”
Mewes questioned reports that the couple were living apart, even though they have not had any contact with Affleck or the 54-year-old “On The Floor” hitmaker since their wedding.
“Maybe he’s busy with work and she’s working and has too much work with the kids,” he said. “I’m not saying that’s the case – I don’t know.”
The actor’s comments come just hours after Lopez ended a conversation with a reporter who asked her to address divorce rumors during a panel in Mexico for her upcoming film “Atlas.”
“You know better than that,” she replied with a quick smile in the video posted on Instagram via El Gordo y la Flaca account.
Her co-star Simu Liu then interjected to silence the reporter.
A day earlier, the mother of two attended her second solo movie premiere again, while the “Argo” actor was photographed leaving the Giorgio Baldi hotspot in Santa Monica, California, later that evening.
Hours before Atlas premiered, a source exclusively told Page Six that Affleck had “come to his senses” about the couple’s marriage.
“If there was a way to divorce him on the grounds of temporary insanity, he would do it,” a source told Us on Monday.
“He feels like the last two years have been just a fever dream, and now he’s come to his senses and realizes there’s no way this is going to work.”
Affleck’s conspicuous absence from the red carpet comes exactly two weeks after the couple first sparked divisive rumors when Lopez showed up to the 2024 Met Gala without him — even though she was one of the event’s co-chairs.
According to reports, the Oscar winner began living in the house in Los Angeles’ Brentwood neighborhood – less than 30 minutes from his and Lopez’s $60 million Beverly Hills mansion – two weeks ago.
Page Six later learned that Affleck was quietly looking for homes in the Los Angeles area.
On Saturday, he was also caught without a wedding ring.
