Kate Beckinsale has slammed critics who told her she was too “thin” after recent health scares.
The actress was forced to defend herself after trolls flooded the comments section Clip from Instagram showing preparations for the upcoming ’90s film “Stolen Girl.”
In the video, Beckinsale can be seen donning plenty of retro cuts and hairstyles while goofing around in her trailer.
Beckinsale, 50, described her experience on set as a “replay” of the ’90s, recalling the days when she cut her own hair, wore her brother’s pajamas and lived in Dr. Martens. Martens and applied too much transparent powder.
While the “Underworld” star seemed thrilled to be back at work after a week in the hospital, haters were quick to express their opinions about her appearance.
“I hate to say it, Kate, but you look a little thin,” one person wrote. “You’ve always had great balance… But when your cheekbones start showing, your balance is lost… 😢 😢.”
Beckinsale reacted sharply to the critic, writing: “I cultivated my own [stepdad] until his death earlier this year. My mom has her own issues too. “I’m adjusting to seeing the death of two fathers, one when I was 5 and the other in January this year.”
In January, the “Vacancy” star lost her stepfather, Roy Battersby, after a short illness. She also discovered the body of her father Richard Beckinsale after he died of a heart attack when she was a child.
“I lost my soulmate, a cat with whom I lived for almost 19 years, also last year,” she continued. “I spent six weeks in hospital due to profuse vomiting of blood [Mallory-Weiss tear] caused by the stress of the year tearing a hole between mine [esophagus] and stomach.”
Kate explained that she also “experienced a serious flare-up [her] mast cell disease” that is “relieved by stress, shock and grief.”
She continued: “I am ready to reveal what contributed to some weight loss. What you think about my appearance and how I should look, regardless of the circumstances in my life and that of my family, is not important.
“I am struggling to survive losses that seem unbearable, reactivating PTSD from discovering the near-dead body of my very young father in the night when I was a toddler, and working to support the family I left behind.”
The “Van Helsing” star also criticized critics for feeling the need to “bully women because of their appearance.”
“The fact that you like girls who are heavier than me doesn’t come up when it comes to important and important things,” she wrote. “I don’t care what your taste in women is. I want you to think that each of us should be informed about this… Do better.
Kate also responded to a troll who wrote: “Please eat something. I love you. I’m very worried about your skinny appearance.
“That’s enough,” she replied.
In March, Kate worried fans when she shared a selfie from the hospital on social media.
She posted cryptic photos from the hospital for weeks, although she never shared her illness.
After leaving the hospital, the actress hinted at her condition by posing in a T-shirt that read, “Survivor of Tummy Problems.”
