September 18, on the eve of Queen Elizabeth IIan unknown portrait of the late monarch was unveiled at the funeral Buckingham Palace.
In the photo, the queen is wearing a light blue dress, with perfectly curled hair and smiling brightly at the camera. In the photo, she is wearing her favorite three-pearl necklace, pearl earrings and an aquamarine and diamond brooch, which were a gift from her father for her 18th birthday. King George VI in 1944.
The portrait was taken earlier this year to mark Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee, as she became the first British monarch to reach the milestone, the palace said.
Queen Elizabeth died at the age of 96 on September 8 at Balmoral Castle, her holiday home in Scotland.
The Queen’s funeral is scheduled for September 19 at 6am ET / 3am PT. This day will be a national holiday for the people of the United Kingdom.
