Aaron Carter was suspected of driving under the influence for days before his death
Aaron Carter was suspected of driving while under the influence of just three days before he was found dead at his California home.
Law enforcement sources told TMZ earlier this week that the 34-year-old singer of “Aaron’s Party” – who was previously arrested for drunk driving in 2017 – was stopped by the cops Tuesday morning after reports that he was carelessly driving a recreational vehicle.
Carter was cleared after field officers passed sobriety tests.
The store noted that it was a windy day Tuesday, which may have been the reason for RV weaving on the road.
The embarrassed musician apparently posted about the incident on Instagram shortly after being allowed to leave, writing: “When you do the right thing, you’re in no trouble. Do the right thing, that’s what you do.
Unfortunately, just a few days later Carter was found dead in his bathtub.
“It is with great regret to confirm that Aaron Carter did not respond to this message at his home in Palmdale, California,” his representative, Page Six, said in a statement on Saturday. “The family has been notified and is flying to Los Angeles. Aaron worked very hard towards the end of his life to be a good father and reconcile with his family. “
The cause of Carter’s death is currently unknown.
Singing “I Want Candy” struggled with drug addiction his entire life, and entered an outpatient rehabilitation program in September after losing custody of his young son, Prince, whom he shared again with his fiancée, Melanie Martin.
“I run group therapy, classes for parents, classes on domestic violence. I’m certified in CPR just for a lot of different things, ”he said about the program.
Carter lost custody of an 11-month-old after he was accused of breaking three ribs of his 30-year-old fiancée in a domestic dispute in February. The artist denied the accusations, and Martin eventually stated that she made up the story because she suffers from postpartum depression.
Carter’s sister Leslie died of an overdose in 2015. At the time of her death, she was 25 years old.
The former child star was given a butterfly tattoo on his face in March in honor of his deceased siblings.
“Every time I see a blue butterfly … she loved blue, it was her favorite color,” he wrote underneath the ink photo. “She had the most beautiful ice blue eyes in the world.”
